Requirements for Bachelor Degree (Paralegal Studies)

Semester System

  • Each semester consists of 16 weeks, 12 weeks of the 16 consists of regular course instruction and 4 of the 16 weeks are available for examinations.


Hours of Instruction

  • The following course prescriptions are established:
  1. A full (1.0) course at the undergraduate level shall require a minimum of forty-eight (48) contact hours.
  2. A half (0.5) course at the undergraduate level shall require a minimum of twenty-four (24) contact hours.
  3. A quarter (0.25) course at the undergraduate level shall require a minimum of twelve (12) contact hours.

Weekly Course Weight

  • The following course prescriptions are established:
  1. A full (1.0) course at the undergraduate level shall require a minimum of four (4) contact hours per week, for a minimum period of 12 weeks.
  2. A half (0.5) course at the undergraduate level shall require a minimum of two (2) contact hours per week, for a minimum period of 12 weeks.
  3. A quarter (0.25) course at the undergraduate level shall require a minimum of one (1) contact hours per week, for a minimum period of 12 weeks.

Student Expectations

  • Students are expected to conduct 2 - 3 hours of study for each instructional hour.

Breadth Requirements for Graduation

At least 1.0 course must be chosen from each of the three categories (A, B, and C) shown below. Any outstanding breadth requirement not completed in first year must be completed prior to graduation. Note: Not all subjects listed below offer first-year courses.

The Degree Structure

  • The Bachelor Degree (Four-Year) - (A minimum 20.0 in course weight)
  • The Bachelor Degree (Three-Year) - (15.0 in course weight)
